How you can use YouTube Embedded Player Parameters

This document describes all the parameters that are available in the YouTube embedded player. Appending these parameters to the SWF URL allow you to set things like color and borders,

In order to call the player API methods, you must first get a reference to the player object you wish to control. This can be done by calling getElementById() on the object or embed tag containing the player SWF if using SWFObject to embed the player SWF.

Functions

player.playVideo():Void
Plays the currently cued/loaded video.
player.pauseVideo():Void
Pauses the currently playing video.
player.stopVideo():Void
Stops the current video. This also closes the NetStream object and cancels the loading of the video. Once stopVideo() is called, a video cannot be resumed without reloading the player or loading a new video (chromeless player only). When calling stopVideo(), the player will first broadcast an end event (0), followed by an unstarted event (-1).
player.clearVideo():Void
Clears the video display. Useful if you want to clear the video remnant after calling stopVideo().
player.getVideoBytesLoaded():Number
Returns the number of bytes loaded for the current video.
player.getVideoBytesTotal():Number
Returns the size in bytes of the currently loaded/playing video.
player.getVideoStartBytes():Number
Returns the number of bytes the video file started loading from. Example scenario: the user seeks ahead to a point that hasn't loaded yet, and the player makes a new request to play a segment of the video that hasn't loaded yet.
player.mute():Void
Mutes the player.
player.unMute():Void
Unmutes the player.
player.isMuted():Boolean
Returns true if the player is muted, false if not.
player.setVolume(volume):Void
Sets the volume. Accepts an integer between 0-100.
player.getVolume():Void
Returns the player's current volume, an integer between 0-100. Note that getVolume() will return the volume even if the player is muted.
player.seekTo(seconds, allowSeekAhead):Void
Seeks to the specified time of the video in seconds. The allowSeekAhead determines whether or not the player will make a new request to the server if seconds is beyond the currently loaded video data. Note that seekTo() will look for the closest keyframe before the seconds specified. This means that sometimes the play head may seek to just before the requested time, usually no more than ~2 seconds.
player.getPlayerState():Number
Returns the state of the player. Possible values are unstarted (-1), ended (0), playing (1), paused (2), buffering (3), video cued (5).
player.getCurrentTime():Number
Returns the current time in seconds of the current video.
player.getDuration():Number
Returns the duration in seconds of the currently playing video. Note that getDuration() will return 0 until the video's metadata is loaded, which normally happens just after the video starts playing.
player.addEventListener(event, listener):Void
Adds a listener function for the specified event.
player.setSize(newWidth, newHeight):Void
Sets the size in pixels of the player.
player.getVideoUrl():String
Returns the YouTube.com URL for the currently loaded/playing video.
player.getVideoEmbedCode():String
Returns the embed code for the currently loaded/playing video.

Events

onStateChange
Fired whenever the player's state changes. Possible values are unstarted (-1), ended (0), playing (1), paused (2), buffering (3), video cued (5). When the SWF is first loaded, it will broadcast an unstarted (-1) event. When the video is cued and ready to play, it will broadcast a video cued event (5).
onError
Fired when an error in the player occurs. Currently there is only one error code, which is 100 for "Video not found." This occurs when a video has been removed (for any reason), or it has been marked as private or non-embeddable by the user.

Special Events

onYouTubePlayerReady(playerid)
Called when the player is fully loaded and the API is ready to receive calls. If a playerapiid is passed into the player via URL arguments, then it will be passed to this function. This function must be implemented in the HTML page containing the YouTube player.

Adsense Clarifies policies surrounding promotion for referral

Many adsense publishers don't know about the policies surrounding promotion for referral units, While the policies are generally the same for referrals as for standard AdSense for content ad units, there are a few minor differences.

You can endorse or recommend products you've chosen to refer on your sites, but we ask that you only make recommendations when you're familiar with the specific product and you've decided not to use the
'Pick best performing ads' feature for that ad unit. For example, if you're familiar with a specific travel agency you're referring, you may use language such as "I use this agency and recommend it to book your next vacation." By being honest with product recommendations, you can help build user loyalty and trust, which will benefit your site in the long run.

significant differences between these two types of ads, the most important being that advertisers only pay for traffic from referral units if the user performs a specific action the advertiser has designated (such as making a purchase from the site or signing up for a newsletter). Please keep in mind that there is a fine line between recommending a product and encouraging your users to click on a referral button for personal profit. Publishers may not ask users to click on the referrals to help them earn money, and may not refer themselves to their own referral products. In addition, publishers may not draw unnatural attention to their referral units with arrows pointing to the units or other similar methods.

Google Code of Conduct

"Don't be evil." Googlers generally apply those words to how they serve their users. But "Don't be evil" is much more than that. Yes, it's about providing users unbiased access to information, focusing on their needs and giving them the best products and services that we can. But it's also about doing the right thing more generally – following the law, acting honorably and treating each other with respect.

Don't be evil
One of the ways they put "Don't be evil" into practice. It's built around the recognition that everything we do in connection with our work at Google will be, and should be, measured against the highest set the bar that high for practical as well as aspirational reasons:

Share your Video with inline media player in Yahoo IM

Last week, Flickr.com announced its new video feature, allowing Flickr Pro users to upload videos and share them online alongside their photos.

As a result, Yahoo IM support for Flickr videos to the inline media player in Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 Beta. If you share a Flickr video link or a friend shares one with you, you can watch the video right in the IM window.

Unlike conventional video sharing services like Yahoo! Video or Youtube, Flickr videos are designed to be “long photos” that capture slices of life. To encourage this, Flickr has limited the length of uploaded videos to 90 seconds. While that may seem like a really short video, it’s ideal for sharing those clips you capture on your digital camera or mobile phone (which often go unshared). Check out a couple of the uploaded videos from the early beta testers:

Tweak Registry for Windows Kernel to improve performance

If you have a PC with reasonable amount of Memory installed (lets say 512MB or a 1Gb) then this little registry tweak can help extract a little bit of an extra performance.

Windows Kernel loads and runs from the memory and hence allows faster application execution. However, there can be a time when the kernel components can be paged onto the Virtual Memory (Pagefile.sys) on the hard disk. This can directly impact the performace.

The following resitry tweak will help you restrict Kernel to run from the memory and not paged out to the Virtual memory.

1. Click Start - Run, type “regedit”

2. Navigate to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet \Control\Session Manager \Memory Management

3. In the right-pane, look for “DisablePagingExecutive” and set its value to “1″

4. Close the Registry Editor and restart your PC.

This should restrict Windows Kernel to the memory alone and will not be paged to the Virtual Memory on the Hard Disk.

Think Before You Post

Millions of childrens and teens using Webcams, microphones, and digital cameras to post videos, photos, and audio files online and engage in video conversations.

Is it Safe ?

Webcam sessions and photos can be easily captured, and users can continue to circulate those images online. In some cases people believed they were interacting with trusted friends but later found their images were distributed to others or posted on web sites.

You may come across offensive or inappropriate images and videos while surfing the web.

Cautions

Use webcams or post photos online only with your parents' and guardians' knowledge and supervision.
  1. Ask yourself if you would be embarrassed if your friends or family saw the pictures or video you post online. If the answer is yes, then you need to stop.
  2. Be aware of what is in the camera’s field of vision and remember to turn the camera off when it is not in use.
  3. Be careful about posting identity-revealing or sexually provocative photos. Don’t post photos of others — even your friends — without permission from your friends’ parents or guardians. Remember - once such images are posted you give up control of them and you can never get them back.
What to Report
  • Anyone you don't know who asks you for personal information, photos or videos.
  • Unsolicited obscene material from people or companies you don't know.
  • Misleading URLs on the Internet that point you to sites containing harmful materials rather than what you were looking for.
  • Anyone who wants to send you photos or videos containing obscene content of individuals 18 and younger. (The possession, manufacturing, or distributing of child pornography is illegal.)
  • Online enticement for offline sexual activities. (No one should be making sexual invitations to you online – and it’s an especially serious crime for adults to do it.)
What to do ?

If any of the above happens to you or a friend, tell an adult you trust and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's CyberTipline.

Links unit and Content units - view separate performance now

To view your new, improved reports, visit the Advanced Reports page under your Reports tab and select AdSense for content. You'll notice a new option to customize your reports -- 'Choose Units'. A 'Combined' report will look just like the data you're used to seeing in your AdSense for content reports, while choosing 'Ad Units' or 'Link Units' will help you look at things with more granularity.

Please note that data is only available dating back to May 2007. Right now, adsense having a little issue where, if you generate a report with a date range starting any earlier than May 2007, their report won't show any data, even if there is data after May 2007. Rest assured that their engineers are aware of the issue and are working to display all available data even if the date range starts before May 2007.

Remember, you're allowed to put up to three link units on any given page in addition to your three regular ad units. With better reporting and improved performance, now is the perfect time to start using link units if you aren't already.

It usually happens when there`s a bunch of stuff piling up on the disc space, sucking up your memory. To avoid this unpleasant situation take these steps and start using them on your own computer.

First of all you need to open one of the text editor programs you have, such as notepad, and type the followings.

Go to "Run" from "Start" menu and type "gpedit.msc"
In "Computer Configuration" tab find the "Windows Settings" option and double click on it, then again double click on "Shutdown" which takes place in the right window.

Next thing is to open a new window, click "Add" , "Browse" , and find your "ntosboot.bat" file and click "Open" button.
When done, you`re supposed to be able to confirm the process by clicking "OK" button, "Apply" button and yet another "OK" to exit.
Select "Run" from the "Start Menu" and enter the following file "devmgmt.msc".
Double click on "IDE/ATAPI controllers" then right click of the mouse on "Primary IDE Channel", selecting "Properties".

Select the "Advanced Settings" tab then on the device or the one that doesn't have "device type" greyed out, select "none" instead of "autodetect" and click "OK".
